State Survey Pawtucket's Church Hill Grammar School (1889-90) was documented for the State Survey. The State Survey locates, records, and evaluates Rhode Island's historic places. Field surveyors photograph properties and described their physical characteristics on data sheets. They also add notes on history, use, and general condition. Researchers study primary and secondary sources to prepare a short history of the physical development of each community, so that individual properties can be evaluated within the context of the community's growth. To find out if a property is included in the State Survey, refer to the inventories of the relevant RIHPHC Publications. If it is not included there, contact Joanna Doherty.
