Monday October 13th is the annual commemoration of National Indigenous Peoples Day. Rhode Island archaeologist Jay Waller will talk about North Kingstown’s contribution to understanding the pre-written chapter in the town’s history by presenting information on several significant archaeological sites that permit archaeologists to interpret millennia of ancestral Narragansett Indian occupation, resource selection, and hunting, fishing, and horticulture along the western shores of Narragansett Bay on the Eve of European Contact.

Jay Waller is a Senior Archaeologist at The Public Archaeology Laboratory Inc. He has particular expertise in historical cemeteries and the history and archaeology of Narragansett Indian Country. Since joining PAL in 1995, he has conducted all phases of archaeological investigations in New England, with a particular focus in Rhode Island.
